Tran Dac Nghia is a graphic designer and visual artist based in Melbourne Australia. He is passionate about visual communication and wishes to use his skills to create experiences that others will cherish. Nghia’s art tells stories of his identity and carries emotions that are difficult to describe in other forms.
My biggest struggle as a visual artist so far would be the pursuit of authenticity. I do not wish to repeat something that has already been done by others, but refusing to walk well-trodden paths means spending a lot of time being lost.
The inspirations behind my art are very personal. They are usually made based on the mixture of thoughts and emotions that I felt during those particular drawing sessions. The final products represent the continuous stream of discovery, struggle, and reflection that my mind went through.
The spontaneity of my art makes it difficult to work with. The pieces tend to look nothing like how I envisioned them beforehand. Somehow, that makes them even more special to me when they surface.
