Matthew Galic – Submissions Manager

Matthew Galic – Submissions Manager

Matthew is in his third year of a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Creative Writing. He grew up in the theatre, and his love for telling stories on stage eventually grew into a love of storytelling in general. His goals for the future circle around forging his place in the world, but he isn’t too fussed about what shape that place ends up taking. He hopes to use Verandah as a means to help others get their voices heard.

Sarah Hurst – Production Manager

Sarah Hurst – Production Manager

Sarah will be commencing her third and final year of a Bachelor of Creative Writing degree in 2021. On top of her commitments to Verandah, she is also a sub-editor for Deakin Wordly Online, as well as a waitress. Her hobbies include knitting, playing video games, writing (particularly song lyrics and poetry), and buying excessive amounts of plushies and plants. Her goal for 2021 is to read more books; reading was something she did all the time as a kid, but has gradually lost her love of it over the years. By being part of the V36 editorial team, Sarah wishes to learn more about the production side when it comes to print media, as well as practice and enhance her editing skills.

Vania Octaviani – Social Media & Advertising Manager

Vania found her love for writing when she was studying theatre performance in Singapore and decided to fly down to Melbourne in 2019. Her experiences of being an international art student in foreign countries have always inspired Vania’s writing pieces and she wishes to explore the themes of culture and self-expression in Verandah 36. Vania also dedicates her free time to create fashion and beauty related content for @potatoeeees.
